Tips for Success from Current or Past Participants

Here at the clinic we have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of people over the years. We’ve helped them achieve a healthier life they thought was long passed. In fact, many of our patients say they feel better now than they did years ago. Other patients have also successfully gotten off insulin, or other chronic medications. Therefore, saving money and adding years on to their life.

While every patient is unique, they all seem to have similar stories that brought them to us. So most of them learn from the same mistakes or have to correct similar bad habits. When asked what knowledge they would like to pass on to new participants here is what we got:

1.)    Be patient. The weight doesn’t come off as fast as it came on.

2.)    The number on the scale isn’t the only factor to represent your success. How you feel, your energy level, and management of your chronic conditions are factors as well.

3.)    The ice in the protein shake really does make a difference. Don’t make them without it.

4.)    Protein can be your enemy if you over eat it. Remember that it’s mostly a vegetable based diet.

5.)    Don’t be afraid to try new recipes or foods. Variety is the spice of life.

6.)    This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t be the cheetah.

What can you do to be more successful?

  1. Set your intention:

o    Search for what your idea of success is and why it’s important to you.

o    After finding what’s important, believe in yourself. “This is what I want and I will get there.”

       2. Make short-term goals to hit along the way:

o    Give yourself some reasonable goals to accomplish that build on each other.

o    Make these goals realistic, it’s important to gain confidence through success.

       3. Keep yourself accountable:

o    Find a way to keep yourself accountable through a food log or keeping a calendar that you can track with.

       4. Be confident:

o    Use word such as I am going to be _________ or I will get ___________.

       5. Work toward your goals and visualize success:

o    Visualize your success as you’re working toward your goals.

o    There will be road blocks and bumps along the way, but don't let them stop you. Use them as lessons to forge your path. Remember your mistakes and learn from them.
